Welcome to HeatWiki!

"HEAT" refers to spicy foods and this wiki is for information on hot peppers, hot sauces, salsas, spicy foods and anything related to spicy food from the cultivation of the ingredients to the comsumption of the final product. Share your knowledge of sauces, recipes, salsas, pepper farming, whatever you think people should know about spiciness!

This site was launched on July 12, 2008, and remains, at this time, very much a blank canvas. I have added a few articles from open sources and have edited the etouffee article to correct some misinformation. I will be adding further information, recipes, pepper and tomato growing experiences and other stuff in the near future and invite you to do the same.

What's New

Not Wikipedia

Unlike Wikipedia articles, HeatWiki encourages linking to relevant sites and won't be too picky about the lack of citations of authority. If you add an article about a plant used in spicy foods, feel free to add information about how to grow it and list recipes for foods made with it, and create a page with the recipe (make sure to link to it from the recipe list of the original page).

Promote your Spicy Products here!

If you make a hot sauce, salsa, pepper jelly, dry spice mix or other spicy product that is available for purchase on the web, please feel free to create a page about it here and to link to your product's website. However, please adhere to two rules: 1) DO NOT compare your product, explicitly or implicitly, to any other branded product; and, 2) Keep the page relating to your product informational. All links should be in a "Links" section of the page. Also make sure to add your hot sauce to the HeatWiki Hot Sauce List and link to your sauce's page. You may also want to create recipe pages for dishes that use your product, just make sure to distinguish recipe pages with the word "recipe" as the last word in the title so as not to confuse them with informational articles on the dish itself.
